We note that the the sporting code section 7a currently contains the following statement: "A Glider showing a certification certificate produced by a CIVL recognised testing body cannot be changed in any way in its configuration. A glider that has been changed in its configuration even slightly in comparison with the tested model or a glider that has not been tested is considered as a prototype and must comply with the following requirements: ..."

As the manufacturer of the Wills Wing T2 144, T2 154, T2C 144 and T2C 154, each of which have been certified in accordance with either the HGMA or LTF airworthiness standards, we note and affirm that no serial production glider that we have produced can be defined, under this rule, as anything other than a prototype, as it is necessary on every serial production glider for there to be some variations from the precise configuration of the one individual glider that was tested for certification.

As we do not believe that it was the intent of CIVL to require that every serial production glider be entered in the competition under the prototype designation, we request on behalf of the pilots flying our gliders that the attached alternate form of the Certified Glider Statement contained in the competition's local rules be deemed acceptable for the purposes of pilot registration and competition.

CERTIFIED GLIDER STATEMENT

I, the undersigned, declare that the following glider: _____. (Class, make, model) that I will fly in the 2009 Chabre Hang gliding World Championship from 20 June 2009 to 4 July 2009, is certified by one or more of the internationally recognized certifying bodies (namely the DHV, HGMA or the BHPA).

Furthermore I declare that I have not altered, and will not alter the configuration of this glider in any way that would render it unsafe for flight in the competition. I understand that I am the sole individual responsible for the integrity of my glider. To the best of my knowledge my glider and equipment are damage-free and airworthy.

I also declare that I "... will not alter the configuration of my glider outside of the manufacturer's recommendations or specifications..."
