Weather:
The wind at the top launch.
The satellites.
The local weather service forecast here. It was totally wrong for today.
Also I am using XCSkies for the soaring forecast. You can sign up for a month for very little.
We flew from Chabre again today, although about twenty pilots went to Apres. The forecast was for 5 mph west winds at 4,000' (GFS/XCSkies). The winds were actually light north westerly when we got there, then dropped off. Some launches occurred on the north side and some on the south.
Everyone seemed to be in a stupor at launch really taking their time to get going. So they waited around until conditions for launching unimproved. Still, with patience they were able to get off around 3 PM. I decided earlier not to fly, but just help out.
I set up a task that mimicked the first task from Apres last year, but with the first leg to go to Apres from Chabre. Like before Scott was able to complete the task (this time in much better conditions).
It looks like the flying conditions will be good tomorrow, but windy on Friday.
