Sprogs, time to lower them
A number of pilots have learned that they have plenty of room to lower their sprogs now that the measurements have been made and they have gone ahead and lowered their sprogs to match the certification specifications (or minus two degrees from those) or the manufacturer's recommendations (within 0.5 degrees of them).
The sprog settings for each pilot (and the differentials) can be found on the Chabre Worlds web site at http://chabre2009.com/results/results.htm/.
At one point Dennis Pagen was insisting that the values for the Wills Wing T2's were manufacturer recommended values and not certified values and that we all had to be within 0.5 degrees of the values, which I wasn't. I finally convinced him that no the values that he had were the HGMA certified values so that we could be within two degrees of these values.
From this I got the impression that if the manufacturer made recommendations for values that all the models from that manufacturer with recommended values had to be within 0.5 degrees of that value. Gerolf told me that he wanted all Moyes gliders to be within the values that he recommended to the Worlds organizers (and to Dennis). I later heard that he wanted them to be "exactly" those values.
But I see in the spread sheet referenced above that some Moyes gliders are compared to the certified values in some cases and to the recommended values in other cases, so what the protocol is, is unclear.
