First of all, thank you for participating in my CAF fund raising
effort for this year's Furnace Creek 508. And also, thank you to your readers
who also chose to donate to CAF through
my fund raising site. The funds donated will go directly to a deserving CAF
sponsored athlete. Thank you very much. As for the 2009 FC_508 (http://www.the508.com/2009web/index.html),
we finished the race in 43 hr 49 min 45 sec. The race video has a brief
interview with me at 0:47; somehow I managed to not to come across like a
complete dork. The race's typical degree of difficulty was punctuated by 40 mph
headwinds with gusts over 60 mph through the entire length of Death Valley.
Unlike my 2007 solo 508, this year's 2-Man team entry presented a unique set of
challenges. While 43:49:45 is not a winning time, just finishing an ultra like
the 508 in any race category is a huge personal success. I have not had an opportunity to fully digest the race. The post race press
release has a good description however (http://www.the508.com/2009web/2009report.html).
