Cease and desist demand letter sent to the Oz Report
I have received an email from one member of the USHPA Executive Committee offering his
personal apology for the letter that I received yesterday from Tim Herr, the USHPA lawyer,
demanding that I take off the Oz Report web site a copy of the
Competition Workgroup's proposal for changes to the USHPA Competition Rulebook.
The EC member also stated that the letter was embarrassing (which, of course, is
a bit of an understatement), and that he would seek a formal apology and
retraction from the EC next week. We'll see how that goes.
It appears that the process just got out of control after the USHPA President
asked the Executive Director to look into the matter. I hope that everyone can
learn from this.
While I have been asked by Tim to not link into the USHPA web site, I have
ignored this request (I guess it is a demand) and do not take as legitimate his
statement that no one (especially me) can link into the USHPA web site without
the express permission of the Executive Director.
Apparently the EC will be asked to direct the CWG to work directly with me on
the competition issues. That sounds like a tough pill to swallow (at least if
they are doing the swallowing). You know, it all becomes so personal.
It would be great if they could incorporate some of the changes that I have made
to their proposal and maybe think of new directions like those found here:
