GPS or barometric altitude?

USHPA needs a consistent and fair way to measure altitude for
scoring competitions.
This has not been an issue for hang gliding competitions in the
US. Why are we even discussing it? It was an issue in Europe at the 2009 Worlds
(and previous comps). It is an issue at the Bogong Cup in Australia. But we
could care less about this in hang gliding comps in the US. And why would the BOD be discussing this? This is purely a technical matter and
a method has been tested and approved at the Worlds.
