What is the goal here?
Can we measure our proposals against our goals and see if they
are headed in the right direction?
Mike Haley states
here:
Moreover, such an assurance could justify higher sanctioning fees
for competitions which could be used to fund other parts of the program, if
desired.
So Mike wants to charge higher sanction fees, seeing sanctioning
competitions as a profit center for the USHPA? I was hoping that the goal of
making changes to the USHPA competition program was to make it more accessible.
I would suggest that making it more expensive reduces that accessibility. What other parts of the program are there, really? My proposals re cost have not been that there not be an insurance fee, but
rather that the costs for bonds and sanctioned fees be reduced by a factor of
ten (down to their actual cost) or eliminated (in order to promote the goal of
getting greater participation in competitions).
