Changes to the US Competition Program postponed
As far as those of us on the outside knew the proposed changes in
the US Competition Program that were coming from the Competition Workgroup were
going to be discussed at the BOD meeting this weekend, and then they were either
going to be adopted, modified or rejected by the BOD. But somewhere along the way something changed. It appears as though the people
on the Competition Workgroup and the interested USHPA officials putting pressure
on the Workgroup to get their "product" out realized that they just weren't
going to be able to get their proposed changes through the BOD. It would be an
immense logistical nightmare anyway given that they didn't have assent from the
affected stakeholders in advance. I was raising one fuss after another in the Oz Report and competition pilots
were contacting their Regional Directors putting pressure on them. The plan was
just too unpopular. So the plan now is to put the split up Competition Rulebook into two
sub-committees of the Competition Committee to be reviewed and hopefully made
acceptable to the competition pilots to and the BOD. I'll have a lot more to say
about this soon, but it is late and it is great to have at least a temporary
victory.
