I have floated a proposal to the meet organizers that they do a promotion
encouraging pilots to bring pilots new to competition with them. Maybe act as a
buddy for them helping them out with the ropes.

Pilots can bring pilots new to competition
with them and get some reduced fee. The idea here is that a pilot who attended a
USHPA sanctioned competition in 2009 brings a pilot totally new to competition,
or brings a pilot who hasn't flown in competition in the three years before, or
brings a pilot to fly in Sport Class. If they do that, and we mean really do
that, actually bring someone who wouldn't have come anyway, and are not just
looking for a deal, they get the deal.

Is this a good idea? Will it bring new pilots into competition?

Surveys indicate that time and money are the biggest constraint on pilots when
it comes to attending competitions.
