At the CIVL plenary meeting in Lausanne some changes were made
concerning the Women's World Championships.
1. Stopped task time in women's hang gliding competitions: Due to the smaller
number of women competitors, a stopped task will be scored as per Section 7
except that the time limit of 1.5 hours will be replaced by 1 hour
2. Women's scoring class 1: For the purposes of scoring Class 1 women, the sum
of the highest scoring two pilots in each team will be added daily to arrive at
the team score. This gives more countries a chance at the medals.
3. Team size in women's hang gliding competitions: Team size of six pilots
With these amendments, every country will be able to enter a contingent of 6 + 4
women, 6 in the team and 4 in individual class, similar to the rigid wing class.
We hope to encourage the NACs to support their women's national teams and send
at least a team of two, as then they get a full chance of winning the team
title.
