A Regional Hang Gliding Competition

Thursday May 27th, 2010 thru Sunday May 30th, 2010

I asked around, and I think the last one in Chicago was in 1993. The comp
committee will be reviewing our request at the upcoming BOD. We’ve had big cross
countries in this date range, and hope for good weather for a generation of
local pilots that haven’t seen a comp.

We will have more info up soon, but pilots can let us know of their interest via

Our plan for the comp is to start small. Our proposal is for a 20 pilot field
which we believe that we can get up reasonably with our resources. If there is
REALLY big interest we would attempt to bring in outside launch gear and pilots.
We'd like to think it would be an ongoing effort, but you have to start
somewhere.

Seeking sanctioning is an effort to bring a "real" comp here and have pilots in
the Midwest (who have not traveled to a comp) gain the knowledge and skill
advancement which comes with that experience.

There are some pilots flying on 'the circuit' who have ties here along with some
regional guys who have done significant competition whom we hope to have fly in
the comp, so we hope for a good mix.

Notice the Texas Single Surface Short conflicts with this Midwest
meet. But I assume that country is big enough for two contests.
