It's hot in the Mojave Desert
Tim Fleming writes:
I just wanted to let you know about this experiment gone wrong in
Mojave, California. Hawks were getting killed by windmill blade strikes and
neighbors were complaining about the terrible noise from the windmills. A new
invention was brought out last week, rubber blades, that were said to be quiet
and soft as a pillow (to save the hawks). But nobody took into account what these blade would do in the heat of the
California desert. The blades warped in the extreme. The good news is: these new
blades do not kill hawks and are completely silent because they do not turn at
all when the wind blows. Spokesperson for the Mojave Wind power company, Sloof Lirpa said "The
experimental blades were a success and accomplished over 66% of their stated
goals but obviously, we have some work to do on thermodynamic structural
integrity so that the remaining goal of power generation can be achieved."
A late publishing of an April fool's joke.
