No one listens to Matt Taber
I reported earlier that Matt and Gordon Cayce were not given the
time or attention at the last USHPA BOD meeting when Gordon tried to make his
presentations regarding a program for revitalizing hang gliding instruction,
something that we desperately need. This apparently hasn't dampened Matt's
enthusiasm for his program. Matt is usually dismissed as self interested at the BOD meetings when he comes
up with programs that mimic his own success and calls for more of it. But it is
getting to the point of who else do we turn to? His numbers speak to the
problems that the USHPA faces, declining numbers. I have championed instruction for years now as the key to the growth of our
sport. Retention is also a big issue and Matt and Gordon have a program to
address that issue also. I look forward to hearing more from both of them, and I wonder how we can get
our organization to care.
