Fighting the Elements

Documentary feature, Miracle in the Storm will have its World Premiere this May
at Dungog. The film portrays the story of Germany paraglider, Ewa Wisnierska,
who survived an encounter with a freak storm in 2007. It combines the talents of
co-directors Leo Faber and Guy Norris and DOP Toby Oliver (Beneath Hill 60).

Guy Norris is one of Australia’s hardest working stuntmen, and is certainly no
stranger to dangerous activities. Currently working on the stunts for the latest
Mad Max film, Guy began his career with 1981’s Mad Max 2 and has since been
involved in the action of films such as Moulin Rouge, Superman Returns and
Australia. His co-director, Leo Faber has developed a successful TV career.

Award-winning cinematographer, Toby Oliver has worked on a number of Australian
films including Looking for Alibrandi, The Combination and Beneath Hill 60.

Synopsis

In 2007 German paraglider Ewa Wisnierska created history by surviving one of the
most harrowing encounters with the fury of nature’s elemental power. She was
sucked into a massive thunderstorm and pulled up to a height of 10,000 metres.
At this altitude her body faced a multitude of life-threatening forces; low
oxygen, freezing temperatures and wild weather conditions. But amazingly, Ewa
managed to navigate her way out of the storm and land her glider safely. This is
her story retold.
