SD memory card in your Flytec 6030

You can download the latest version of the firmware here:
http://flytec.com/Products/Software.htm for the zip file version or here:
http://www.flytec.ch/download/Serie6000/6030/F6030_V330m.exe for the
executable. If you download the executable (or just Run it) it includes the
software to upload the firmware into your instrument.

The "m" version of the firmware allows you to store tracklogs as IGC files on a
2 GB SD card that you can easily plug into your Flytec 6030 or Brauniger
Compeo+. It also allows you to copy all the waypoints stored in the 6030's main
memory onto the SD card. At the moment there is only one file for storing
waypoints so you apparently can't have multiple waypoint files, at least not
yet. It looks like you should be able to have those in the future. You can have
multiple IGC files.

The 2 GB card is big enough to store many IGC files and waypoint lists. 2 GB
cards are formatted using FAT 16 as the file format. The processor in the 6030
can only address 2 GB, so bigger cards than 2 GB can't be addressed. I assume
that you could reformat 1 4GB in FAT 16 and turn it into a 2 GB card, if you
can't find 2 GB cards (they are rarer these days).

I am looking forward to the day (coming soon) when all pilots will be required
to download their own flights into IGC files (the meet directors will make
available a computer) and then have to email them to the scorekeeper. This has
been true for a few years now with sailplane contests. They could just hand in
their 2 GB card.
