The airfield here is the correct size for a lot of hang gliding
activity thanks to the members of the largest local Swedish hang gliding club
and guest pilots. Two Saturday's ago presented unexpectedly good thermal flying.
My girlfriend and I were fooled by the weather forecast and decided for a
picnic. We started driving to the airfield and on arrival I felt sorry for not
having a glider with me as very good clouds started forming in the sky.
Lars and Thomas were already circling at cloud base. Yorgos left his Mosquito
harness in the car and hooked engineless under his Combat. I assisted his tow
and took out my camera to produce this immortal footage.
All air born pilots stayed at cloud base lift was everywhere.
After an hour and a half high up, Thomas landed to tow the trike pilot Lani.
Lani has an old motorised Zefir glider that he flew without a motor this day.
Lars demonstrated another perfect belly landing. Hokan tested launch with his
tail on the hang gliding trolley and for an hour up at cloud base managed a
short triangle course round the airfield.
A joyful flying Saturday.
SDFK HG club organises a local competition next weekend. Keep an eye on the
weather if it looks good - give us a visit .
