Eaglets
Steve Wendt at Blue Sky makes the new sails for Kitty Hawk Kites
Eaglets (seen
here) each year. This year he decided to make his own Eaglet out of 7075
aluminum (43 pounds) for use in his own training. This could be flown my smaller
pilots (easier to handle than the Condor 330) and able to be flown when the
winds were greater than zero mph. This really opened up the training
possibilities for Steve who had been confined to nearly windless days
previously. What Steve likes about the Eaglet is the fact that they are terrible hang
gliders. They never cause a problem on tow because if they get out of line,
Steve just cuts the power and they come right down. They can only stay in the
air when under power. No turning on a tip and then flying into the ground. They
can't fly.
