Trike tow pilot certification

I am pleased to report here that in April I received an FAA
Examiner appointment from AFS-610 that will allow me to assist with tug pilot
training needs and certifications. I currently only hold authorization at the
Sport Pilot level for trikes but I expect Private Pilot authorization for trikes
soon and hopefully airplanes next year. Fortunately we have a few examiners
among our hang gliding ranks and having one more only helps. The listing for
examiners with their authorizations can be found on the Sport Pilot tab at
www.faa.gov but this list is
somewhat outdated. Over the last two years in Texas we have developed a small but well qualified
instructor pool servicing mostly trike tug pilots. The list of Texas Trike CFI's
authorized to train at the Private Pilot level and to also issue tug pilot tow
endorsements and conduct trike pilot flight reviews includes hang glider pilots
:Steve Burns, Kent Robinson, Jeff Hunt and me, Gregg Ludwig. I also hold CFI
Airplane and can be available for Dragonfly flight training and flight reviews
and tow endorsements. Steve Burns holds CFI Airplane at the Sport Pilot level
and can also conduct Dragonfly flight reviews. Steve also has an SLSA Airborne
912 trike available for training and hire and we often team up to get pilots
certified. We expect to have several more qualified tug pilots this summer. The
Texas CFI's all travel for the flying so let us know of your training needs.
