Tomas's glider after he landed during the first day of the World Championships
in Slovakia this last weekend.
He was established in a thermal core for about 7 turns when a Swedish pilot came
into his core and impacted him from behind and above. Tomas's canopy got
impacted by the other glider and missed him miraculously. Both were very lucky
and both landed safely. Thomas flew the next day in another glider.
More here and description of the accident here.
A fatality at the World Gliding Championships.
This is definitely the worst safety record we ever had in a WGC!
