An update: I got a Remora, and I'm thrilled with it. It is so much
stronger and more stable than my old Glider Rider, and the suction cups hold so
tightly that I can rock the whole vehicle around by pushing/pulling on the base
of the rack. The gliders do not bounce, rock, or sway on rough roads like they
did with the Glider Rider. Mike Barber insists that it should be
safety-back-up-tied to points under the hood, but I don't bother. That sucker is
not coming off. Yes, the price is steep, twice what the Glider Rider is, but
it's twice as good. I'm not one to usually gush about products like I'm doing
here, but I just have to recommend this to anyone who wants a simple and
effective alternative to the gawdy and complicated customized front racks we
must normally fabricate.
