I had just had dinner with Barry Gordon at Phil Ray's place in
Mill Valley while on a road trip in late June/July. He had been getting
treatment for osteo sarcoma that had messed up his hip and had traveled to his
lungs. I thought he was for sure going to make it, as his treatments seemed to
be working and he was in good shape and great spirits. His oldest daughter Angie
called to let us know the news of his passing. He had taken his hike down to the
river and left us in the peaceful manner we all knew him for. He is survived by
Susan his lovely wife, daughters Angie, Danielle and son Devin. Details
http://www.caringbridge.org/visit/barrygordon We spent part of our honeymoon oh say 17 years ago at Stratford on Avon where
Barry and Susan ran an ultralight school out of an very cool old RAF airfield.
Flew ultralights to an air show in Nottingham 50 miles away. Having known Barry since his arrival in Hawaii after the 1974 Telluride contest
with Linda Tracy, he became one of our Hawaiian Ohana. Linda Tracy, my "hanai"
sister, lived and flew in Hawaii until her passing about ten years ago. She
suffered an aneurysm in New York while visiting her father. She ran fitness
centers and was personal trainers to all sort of Hawaiian celebrities. His 50th birthday party was an four day celebration at his Devil's Thumb Ranch
in Frazier, Colorado. Dudley, Brad, Keith, Bob BVW, Phil, Paul and other
survivors of the 70's were in classic form and attendance. I have some great
pictures. Picture of Barry in port-a-potty was summer of 74 in Telluride LZ. Kind regards
to all who knew him. BTW- Barry played harp (harmonica) with the Stones, John
Mayall and others while in England.
