Not so dangerous Mexico

All is well at Valle. Flew into Mexico City, and between
conversations with workers, taxi drivers, and my father in law who is in the
state criminal justice system, as well as personally getting around, we feel
that things will be as normal in our areas of operation. I went flying with
friends and got reacquainted with paragliding in front of that rock massif we
know as the Penon del Diablo and then the piano LZ. The lake level is way up, near capacity as the rains were heavy this summer. The
level will begin dropping but how fast is always a mystery. The efforts from
years past mean the lakeside lz will never be underwater again but the field is
at it's smallest until the lake drops considerably. The road access up La Torre
was reported better than usual while the Penon road has some small improvements
on the lower stretches but was rougher on the upper parts. Launch has suffered
some erosion but has healthy grass covering over 90%. It may need a cut too as
things besides grass are getting taller. Access to the piano LZ has improved quite a bit. Yes, we got things organized to
get it cut again. The LZ is even larger since there is a section in front of the
new restaurant/store construction which might be in operation when things are
crowded. Until then, there is a beverage and snack lady faithfully bringing a
bucket, counting on thirsty pilots who want a cold beer or soda and snack foods. There have been x/c flights back to Valle already and the season looks
promising. Great Winter flying is ahead. Think about your Winter plans and come
enjoy flying with FlyMexico.
