New USHPA Executive Director, therefore new office location?
Why torture our new Executive Director by keeping the office in
Colorado Springs?

1) Major staff is happy with a move out of Colorado Springs 2) The five finalists for the position of Executive Director are all advanced
hang glider or paraglider pilots. You wish to condemn them to five years
(average turn over time for our ED's) to little or no flying? Wouldn't Salt
Lake, San Bernadino, or other sites be preferable when it comes to hiring an ED
when a major criteria for their hiring is that they be part of the free flying
community? 3) Put the USHPA office in a place that is visible to the members to help create
a connection. 4) Give the USHPA office personnel a better purchase on the reality of the free
flying community. Maybe get them all flying (see the trips that they made this
year). 5) Market to a broader audience (to become members of the USHPA) by having a
physical presence where our potential customers might be. 6) Demonstrate to the ED and other office personnel the value of high quality
instruction thereby help continue the movement on the part of some BOD members
to (and as part of our new strategic plan) to encourage the growth of hang
gliding and paragliding instruction. 7) Make the USHPA office a real part of the community. What some here (including the USHPA Treasurer) seem not to be aware of is that
the USHPA has decided on a much different approach to their office and their
Executive Director. They feel that they need someone who is dedicated to the
sport. They are interviewing Lisa Tate (past USHPA President) for the job after
all, as well as someone else who is currently like Lisa serving on the USHPA
BOD. The other three candidates are USHPA members. Do you think that they are
interested in being outsourced into Podunkville? Do members (and BOD members) remember at all the hell that they put Jayne
dePanfilis through keeping the office in Colorado Springs when she had no desire
to be there? Is that what we want again? We have already decided on a different kind of USHPA office by the choice we are
about to make with respect to the Executive Director. The next question is where
would this new office best fit?
