Two CIVL sanctioned competitions at Forbes

http://www.moyes.com.au/Forbes2011/

Vicki Cain <<moyes>> writes:

We will be changing the arrangement of a ten day competition for
Forbes 2011. I understand it's a late change but we do so for the benefit of
all. Instead of one single ten day competition, we will run two five day
competitions with a rest day in between.

The main point to make is that the competition will start one day early on the
2nd January 2011 and the practice day will be the 1st January 2011. The
competition will still finish on the scheduled date of the 12th January, 2011.

Both competitions will be sanctioned as Category 2 events with the FAI and will
attract WPRS ranking points.

Both competitions have been granted AAA rating by the HGFA competitions
committee.

The updated Forbes itinerary is as follows:

Forbes Flatlands Sports Class Championships 2011

28th December 2010 - 31st December 2010 Unlimited entries - Entry Fee $250 + $25
per tow Cross Country flying and competition preparation

28th December 2010 - 31st December 2010 Max 10 entries - Entry Fee $200 + $25
per tow Record Flying

28th December 2010 - 31st December 2010 Max 5 entries - Entry Fee $200 + $25 per
tow Aerotow Endorsement Course

28th December 2010 - 1st January 2011 $250 + 10 tows $250 Practice Flying

$25 per tow Forbes Flatlands Hang Gliding Championships 2011

Practice day: 1st January 2011 1st Comp: 2nd January - 6th January 2011 Rest day
7th January 2011 2nd Comp: 8th – 12th January 2011 3 Classes: Open, A-Class and
Sports Class

This idea has several upsides over a single long meet.

We get a rest day in the middle of the flying, where you actually want it for
safety reasons. We get everyone we would get anyway, plus those people who can
time-wise, money-wise or fitness-wise only do one or the other comp. Pilots who
stuff up the first or second task, get a fresh chance for the second comp and
have no need to just hang in without much chance for a good result. We will get
two triple-A events. We will get Cat 2 FAI sanctioned events for World Ranking.

Entry Fees:

The cost for both competitions will still be the original price of $650 overall,
(entry fee and tow fee together).

Entering only one competition, regardless of which competition, the price is
$450 overall, (entry fee and tow fee together)

I look forward to hearing back from you if you will enter either one or both
competitions as soon as possible or by Friday 10th December at the latest.

The Sports Class category will also be FAI sanctioned for WPRS points.
