It's still wet in Oz
On Sunday the 27th we drove from Newcastle to Forbes via Gulgong
(site of the Airborne Gulgong Classic and often a goal for Forbes meets). At
Wellington (a turnpoint and town just before the small mountain range) we were
stopped by flooding. The previous two days had seen heavy down pours in Forbes
and in the general area. The water was going under the bridge but over the road
beyond it. We had to head south toward Orange to get around the flooding that had also cut
off another road to Forbes requiring us to go back north to Parkes and then come
in from the north to Forbes. The mosquitoes are thick here in Forbes. They are small and don't buzz. The airfield is soaked and we can't get into it this morning. Apparently there
is a moat around where we launch from.
