Flytec 6015 gets competition route and more
Steve Kroop <<info>> writes:
As mentioned in the post on the new 6030 beta firmware, an update of the 6015 was imminent. As promised, Flytec has released firmware v1.3.00 for the 6015. This is a significant update with many new and advanced features:
- Nascent/near thermal tone: This is a double beep that indicates lift that is not quite strong enough to trigger the ascent tone but may deserve investigation when finding a source of lift is critical. This can be useful when searching for lift just outside of an established thermal or in a thermal that has not fully formed yet. The window of this tone is from the normal ascent tone threshold down to a user preset limit (e.g., +8 ft/min to -60 ft/min). This sound can be quickly enabled/disabled in flight.
- Glide ratio required to destination
- Competition route: Similar to the 6020/6030, you can define a route as a competition route, complete with a set start time, start gate interval, number of start gates, and if it is an entry/exit start. Additional features when flying a competition route:
- Countdown timer for start gate
- Ability to advance countdown timer to a later start
- Indication if you are on the wrong side of the start circle (i.e., inside an entry or outside an exit)
- Turnpoint reached sound given when enter/exit turnpoint proximity circle
- Speed to start cylinder: displays the ground speed required to get to the start circle boundary for an on-time start
- Directional pointer to 1st and 2nd turnpoint
- Above/below glide slope to destination indication
- Number of waypoints expanded to 200+
- Max for Alt2 saved in logbook
- Faster windspeed/direction calculation w/ display of time since last calculation
There is no charge for the new firmware and it is available here: http://flytec.com/Products/Software.htm or http://www.flytec.ch/Firmware.htm Also with this new version you can install the firmware directly to the 6015 (i.e., it is not necessary to download the flasher utility or save the firmware to your PC). Please follow the instructions on the download page above.
