Flooding in Victoria also

We had heard that they had evacuated 300 homes in Beaufort next to Dynamic
Flight so I wrote to Rohan and asked him how it was going at his flight park.

Yes, they had to be prepared for the event of the lake bank
breaking. The Beaufort lake is a very nice man made lake but above the height of the town
and contained with an earth wall. Floods in August and September had filled the
lake to the spillway, last week's flood increased the water level too quickly
for the spillway so it ran over the 10 meter high 300 meter wide bank as well,
somehow (luckily) not cutting through. If it had we could have seen hundreds of
houses washed away like in the QLD floods. The Flight Park was half covered in water two days ago as the Mt Emu Creek
flooded, makes for difficult grass cutting and preparation for the next bunch of
pilot certificate students. The Hangar was high and dry. We have been trying to
cater for an increase in bookings for HG pilot certificate courses this season,
shame the weather has not been altogether helping. It was good to hear (but frustrating as I was teaching) Forbes got some flying
weather, you might have a bit of luck for the Bogong too.
