I am reaching out looking for help, and the Oz Report seemed like
it had enough experienced pilots that maybe someone could help me. My concern is that I will buy a beginner's glider and find its limitations in a
season or two, even if I save all my extra money for both of those seasons I
will have a hard time then reinvesting in a different wing and be stuck with one
that limits me and is no longer as fun.
I respond:
This is what everyone thinks when they start hang gliding ("I'm
the exceptional one.") They all try to buy up right away. We've seen this over and over again, which is why we despair that you will even
listen for a second. Get a beginner single surface easy to land, launch, and fly glider from your
instructor. Practice, practice, practice, on it for two years. Learn actually
how to land, anywhere at any time. Build yourself a base upon which to add
skills.
