Flying Marshall
After days on end of Santa Anas (north winds over the back) it

The Wills Wing crew had been unable to test fly gliders and mine
was finished but un-test flown. Sunday the wind direction changed and Steve
Pearson and Dustin Martin (he's living in Phoenix now, but spending a good
amount of time at the factory) were ready and a test flight was on. We are
heading for Florida on Monday morning (postponed one day for the test flight),
so I headed out to Andy Jackson to drive for the crew. The LZ was quiet (only paraglider pilots around) when I got there before 11 AM,
but it was blowing right in. Steve and Dustin were not far behind, so we were
soon up the hill with Ken Howell, also ready to test fly a Tandem Falcon. Only
one pilot on top so it was a quick setup and they were off and climbing up in
the light thermals. Steve was soon over Crestline. Driving down I had to back up a number of times as the paraglider pilots and a
few hang glider pilots were now heading for the top. By the time I got to the
LZ, the place was packed. Steve had test flown the glider that I will be using
this season and it was in good shape. Pictures later. It's beautiful. I took them back up the hill for the second set of test flights and it looks
like a few T2C's are going out the door. I ordered my glider with the 24:1 VG rope (pulley in the down tube) and Steve
really liked it. Said that he will probably make that the standard
configuration. Also liked the idea of two sliders on the interior sprog zipper
(for cameras) and looks like he will make that standard. Not bad, two design
decisions on a test flight day.
