Getting the glider across the country
Here is our setup (Oz Report World Headquarters) driving from
Cathedral City in California to Quest Air in Groveland, Florida: I didn't come up with a way to put the hang glider on the roof. So where was it? This 5th wheel trailer is a tow hauler. (It is the Heartland Cyclone model,
which seems appropriate.) The back end is a ramp: There is the new Wills Wing T2C 144 up on top of the bed which has been lowered
down using the chain drive on the walls. But the "garage" is only 12 feet long at its longest dimension (and quite a bit
shorter at the height of the glider). Therefore: I needed to cut a hole in the wall between the "garage" and the main living
quarters. The hole was just wide enough and was limited in its width by two
aluminum studs. The hang glider extended into the living area: This is the upper loft area that at the moment we use for storage. It has two
mattresses, one on each side. The glider has to be tied to the bed to keep it
from sliding. It certainly is protected from the elements.
