I have been trying to improve the quality of the photos and videos
we produce on behalf of our clients. This video was produced using some of our
newest equipment and I’ve been very impressed particularly with the Drift
Innovation HD170. You’ll also notice how we have fixed an airspeed indicator
onto the side of the camera mount. With the introduction of CAR Part 115 –
Adventure Aviation in New Zealand later this year, it will be a requirement for
all commercial hang gliding tandems to carry an airspeed indicator. The location
of this airspeed indicator places it within view of the pilot at all times and
puts it into a relatively clean air flow. The camera poles are stored inside our
vehicle while not in use so this keeps both the camera remotes and ASI out of
harm’s way.
I am hoping that Drift Innovation will give us some way of remotely switching
the camera from photos to videos and vice versa without having to go through the
cameras menu system. This would reduce the need to use two cameras, reduce the
weight and reduce the cost.
Both cameras in the video have also been superseded by the Drift Innovation
Stealth and Samsung WB1000.
