Why am I here in Colombia? Because the locals would like to get some
international exposure to the world wide hang gliding community. They feel that
their competition and their sites deserve to be known outside of South America
and they want to encourage pilots from around the world to come, not just to
Brazil but to Colombia also.

Mike Glennon arranged for some sponsorship, the price of a round trip ticket
from Miami (I flew from Orlando and made up the difference), so I very much
appreciate the support. I needed a little kick in the pants because all I could
envision was the Cali Cartel and kidnapping by the FARC. Not a great
advertisement for the area or for flying out into the wilderness.

But I don't see any cocaine and apparently the FARC is a long ways away from
here in the deep jungle.

The main point of the Oz Report is to expose pilots to something that they
haven't experienced, so I'm here to do my best to convey to you what it means to
be here and fly here in a competition.
