Update from the USHPA - Rio
The newsletter. Robin Jones writes:
Through squinting eyes I peered through 3-D glasses at the RIO
movie premiere in Denver, Colorado, over the weekend. I was awaiting some
terrible lack of flying content in the film. I sat next to groups of adults and
families with kids from all ages and walks of life. But the disaster never
happened. It never looked dangerous. And flying was mentioned so many times in
just the first 20 minutes of the film, I lost count. This film lauds learning to fly. It shows the majesty of it. It shows the
community and personal draw of flying. The hang gliding scene is much longer in
the movie, and at one point, the audience gasped as the hang glider flew around
the Christ The Redeemer statue. I don't want to spoil it for anyone but it was
funny, light-hearted & adults and kids could appreciate the beauty and wonder of
those fledgling steps that are needed to fly. Oh, and the 3-D really worked for
this film - but isn't a necessity to understand it. http://www.flylikeabird.org/
