The Dragon Fly Soaring Club will be celebrating this year's
National Hang Gliding Day (NHGD) on Saturday May 28 by hosting a NHGD Fly-In and
Just Fly! Comp at Cloud 9 Field, Michigan, over the Memorial Holiday weekend,
Saturday May 28-Monday May 30.
As a premier site for hang gliding in the US, Martin Palmaz (USHPA Ex.Dir.) and
Rich Hass (USHPA Pres.) will be visiting Cloud 9 to meet local pilots and join
in the festivities on NHGD, Saturday May 28. We expect that other recreational
and comp pilots will be visiting us for our May 28 NHGD Fly-In and Just Fly!
Comp, too, as our event is scheduled on the weekend after the Midwest comp in
Illinois and prior to the East Coast Championships in Maryland. All are welcome!
The Just Fly! Competition format is very relaxed, inexpensive ($5 per flight),
and informal--run by pilots for pilots, with 100% return of all entry fees
collected as prizes to winning pilots. A weighted scoring system is used with
optional tasks and scoring opportunities, so that any aerotow-rated pilot can
fly any glider, launch at any time, and be competitive.
Please RSVP to Trevor "The Flash" Gildersleeve (DFSC VP), at

if you are planning to attend, and include names of any guests you may bring so
we know who is coming and can plan food accordingly. For more information about
