Aerotowing in Victoria, Australia

It's been about one year since I reported that we were starting a
new aerotow operation in central Victoria, Australia. Operations are going well with good interest and support from the local pilots.
We have had some good soaring days however a lot of our focus over the last year
has been on training; getting pilots endorsed and practiced in aerotowing skills
so we develop a bigger cohort of people who are able to fly with us. In this
regard we normally fly prospective aerotow trainees in our Wills Wing tandem for
a couple of flights before sending them solo in an easy to fly glider. Only
after this do we let them fly a high performance wing behind the dragonfly tug.
This system works well and at last count nearly twenty pilots have completed
their aerotow endorsement with us. It is of course nearly winter here and the soaring season is about done. We will
spend the next few months endorsing more pilots, introducing new people to hang
gliding with the tandem and planning for the spring. Here is a short piece of vision of an instructional tandem from last weekend:
