The Italian National Team is chosen this way:

Objective Procedure:

Three pilots based on the ranking of the year before the event (for the 2011
Worlds the names are Ploner, Ciech, Cataldi)

One pilot based on the Coppa Italia of the year before the event- different kind
of ranking calculated with the best tasks of the Italian comps (the name this
year is Guiducci)

Subjective Procedure:

One or two pilots (depending on the Local Rules and Regulation) from the
Commissioner (in this case Flavio but different people in the past). This year
Oppici and Reichegger.

Despite the fact that somebody may not like this system, these are the rules
that we have had in place since 1996 and have allowed Italy, as a team, to win
from 1997 to 2010.

At the Worlds: Gold Medal (2009), Bronze Medal (1997)

At the Europeans: Gold Medal (2010), Silver Medal (1998, 2008), Bronze Medal
(1998, 2000, 2004)

Plus, of course, several individual titles and medals.
