On Sunday Belinda and I listened on our 2 meter mobile base
station,
Yaesu 
FT 2900R, with a 2 meter 5/8 wave antenna,
Diamond M285SNMO mounted on the roof of the Oz Report World Headquarters.

We were able to hear Pete and Mike from seventy miles (112 kilometers) away
(while they were in the air). After that we lost contact as Mike landed and Pete
kept going.

Years ago we would be on the top of Chelan Butte and could hear pilots flying
seventy miles away in Eastern Washington on our little hand held 2 meter radios.
