Flying Rags for Glory – Making sense of the PG comps world
http://www.syndergaard.dk/wp/
When I heard that Luc Armant had crashed his R11 in Turkey I felt
bad for him, but the full implications of the incident took a few minutes to
dawn on me. Anyone who has based their perception of 2-liner safety on the
fact that Luc has crashed his hasnt understood ANYTHING of risk assessment in
paragliding, and has probably been doing it for the wrong reasons all their
lives. Heres a fact for you: We can all crash. If you think you cant crash
because you are better than all the people who are crashing then you are wrong.
This is the reason why I am such a vocal advocate of actually getting the
reserve out on the day your number is up in most cases that means the
difference between walking away, and spending horizontal time (sometimes
infinite time). It is not quite a random numbers game, but it often comes close.
