Smoothing the Wills Wing Tip
I wrote to Steve Pearson at Wills Wing the following:
A number of pilots (Jonny and Carl, for two) have asked that Wills
Wing reverse the bolts on the tips so that they dont hurt other gliders.
And a little later that:
Moyes turned these bolts round a few years ago - with the nut on
the bottom it eats through the leading edge Mylar when the glider is packed up,
plus with the end of the bolt scraping on the floor it burs over and makes it
impossible to dismantle. With the nut on the top you can't fail to check if its
done up when you rig the glider.
Steve wrote back:
We implemented the new inserts with recessed bolts after your
glider was delivered. See Zac's new glider at Big Spring. The new bolt system is
recessed and should reduce any wear and damage issues.
