I tested LiveTracking last year in Forbes, it worked great just
with an ordinary Nokia phone (it was NextG phone with GPS). I had a number of
people watching me on-line, all were pretty excited with that. The number of
drop-outs was really small, so apparently internet is good enough all over the
Forbes flying area. Even our longest task to Hay was being transmitted without
any problem until the phone battery gone flat, which gave me 6.5 hrs of the
on-line translation.
Example of my log transmitted in the real time in January from the comp:

until you see the track)
As you see, its pretty much detailed. Unfortunately this site doesnt keep
records of previous flights, but I can assure you that the quality of the
coverage in the air for NextG is pretty much the same in all directions and
distances (longest distance I flew away from Forbes with working phone was 200+
km and the coverage was still OK)
So I believe that if GPS trackers that was used in the Worlds support NextG,
then there are no technical problems to use that this year.
I hope to be testing Gaggle, the software for the Android phone,
at the Santa Cruz Flats Race in two weeks.
Test ride on the bike,
here.
