Tom Collet is an experienced hang-gliding pilot who has flown
around the world and seasonally works in New Zealand taking people on tandem
hang-gliding flights.

He said Dolphin Heads was one of the safest spots for hang-gliders to fly and
one of the only locations around Mackay where they could fly at all.

Mr Collet said he disagreed with comments by Dolphin Heads resident Paul Buddery
(DM 28/09/11) who questioned the legality of the sport in that area and said
there were other places around Mackay hang-gliders could fly.

"It would be a true shame if hang-gliders were told not to fly at Dolphin
Heads," Mr Collet said.
