USPHA editor and America PWC Champion Nick Greece worked closely
with Bob on Classic Routes, writing one route himself and contributing
photographs to several others.

“Classic Routes will supply travelling cross country addicts the ability to fly
like a local – worldwide.” Nick told us. “With in depth route explanations and
amazing photos to support route descriptions, this book will help you show up
and connect some of the best routes in the world.”

According to Bob the book has been in the planning stages for over a decade.
“It’s something I’ve wanted to do for years,” he said.

“After over a decade working in the free-flight world, discovering new talent
and showcasing photographers and writers, it was the perfect moment to launch
the Classic Routes project,” he explained.

“The book is the culmination of so much that is important to me about free
flight. Whether it’s taking your first tentative glide ‘over the back’ or
pushing full bar through the big mountains – it’s all in there.

“I’m hugely privileged to have been able to work with such great pilots and
talented individuals on Classic Routes. Launching it is a huge moment for me. I
hope I can bring a little of what makes flying so exciting to me to the reader.”

I received the actual book today. Of course, it is is beautiful
and inspiring (if the pictures are more inspiring for paraglider pilots than
hang glider pilots). It is filled with gorgeous pictures, maps, directions,
weather information, step by step review of flights along the routes.

Eleven of the routes are in Europe, four in the western US/Canada, one in South
America, one in South Africa, one in Australia (Manila), and two in the
Himalayas. This book will be an excellent guide to traveling pilots looking for
cross country flights.

It's also a coffee table book to show others just what it is that we (well,
paraglider pilots) do. There are some hang glider pilot pictures.
