More than 230 homes in Forbes are being evacuated due to major
flooding.

The State Emergency Service says it is door knocking houses, which have been on
stand by, to ask hundreds of residents to leave their homes by nine o'clock
tonight.

The Lachlan River is set to peak at 10.65 metres tomorrow and it will rise again
on Thursday.

Nicole Richardson from the SES says they are not taking any chances.

We have about 12 hours to undertake that evacuation at this time," she said.

Evacuation Orders for a major flood peak are expected to be rolled
out around the community from today.

A major flood peak is predicted to hit Forbes between tomorrow night and
Thursday morning at a height of 10.65 metres at the Iron Bridge – equivalent to
the August 1990 floods.
