Announcing the "2012 Big Walker Mountain Cross Country Challenge."
No forms to fill out - No entry fees - No rules - No red tape - No log ons. Just
fly as far as you can from the Big Walker launch in 2012.

Hang Glider Class Custom "1st Place" 2012 Acrylic Hang Glider Laser Engraved

Mountain, VA logo

Paraglider Class Custom "First Place" 2012 Acrylic Paraglider Laser Engraved
Award plus an iron on transfer of the new limited edition 2012 Soar Big Walker
Mountain, VA logo

2nd, 3rd and 4th place winners in each class will get an iron on transfer of the
new limited edition 2012 Soar Big Walker Mountain, VA logo to put on their
favorite shirt.

Only 2 acrylic awards and 10 iron on transfers will be made. You can't buy one.
The only way to get one is earn it by flying cross country and landing out just
like a bird does :) There will be only ten different overall winners, five in
each class! No individual sub classes for topless, single surface or rigid wings
etc.

Everyone will get a 2012 Soar BWM vehicle window, bumper or helmet sticker
though if you visit, work or fly the Big Walker site in 2012.

You don't have to sign up, log on anyplace, declare goals or announce your
plans. Just figure out where you land and google the distance, use GPS or an
aero chart. That's all up to you.

This is a year long Cross Country event for those who want to explore the true
potential of the long Big Walker Mountain ridge and sharpen their Cross Country
skills on those wonderful northwest days.

1. Just fly as far as you can from the Big Walker launch in 2012.

2. Then email me (<soar8hours>)
with your distance and note that you were flying a HG or PG. It's really that
simple.

I'll post the results on
http://bigwalkermountain.blogspot.com.

You have noticed that everything an Indian does is in a circle. That is because
the power of the world works in circles. Everything trie to be round. The sky is
round. And I have heard that the earth is round like a ball. And so are all the
stars. The wind in it's greatest power whirls. Birds make their nest in circles.
Even the seasons make a great circle when they are changing, always coming back
again to where they were. The life of a man is a circle, from childhood to
childhood.

Our Big Walker site is located halfway between the PA and TN sites. So I'd like
to let pilots know there is a break in their long drives where they can camp and
fly when using interstates I-81 and I-77 when they travel down to the team
challenge at the TN Tree Toppers sites or to Lookout Mtn, GA.

Also for 2012 the Southwest Virginia Hang Glider Paraglider Association, alias "Skywackers",
are sponsoring two Fly-Ins. The first is at Eagle Rock, VA on June 15-17. The
second will be held at Big Walker Mtn., near Bland, VA on Sept 28-30. For more
details, interested pilots can visit our club webpage at:
http://skywackers.org/

Big Walker is used as a ridge running site by the local sailplane club located
at the NE end of the ridge in New Castle.
