In late March we in the AZHPA held an annual fly-in at Oatman in
tribute to Jerry Dalen, an active hang glider pilot who succumbed to cancer a
year ago. I put a video together of the Fly-in that highlights the launch site
and provides some views of the contrast in Arizona between the desserts,
volcanic ridges, and lush farmland. Seventeen or so hang gliding launches are
shown in the video as well.
We will hold the Jerry Dalen Memorial Fly-in annually on a weekend on or near St
Patrick's day each year and would like to invite pilots from other locations to
join us.
You Tube intro:
On March 23-25, 2012 the Arizona Hang Gliding and Paragliding Association ( www.azhpa.org ) hosted the
annual Jerry Dalen memorial fly-in. Jerry was an AZHPA HG pilot who loved flying
the Oatman mountain site located NW of Gila Bend, AZ. Cancer took Jerry's life a
year ago. He was an avid pilot, husband and father. The AZHPA will host this
fly-jn annually on or near St Patrick's day. Come join us next year. All the
best to Jerry and his wonderful family from the pilots of the AZHPA.
