The Flytec Race and Rally
Well, actually not launching. The winds are still too strong from
the west and north west getting as high at 21 mph gusting to 24 mph. Okay for
the flats of Texas, but a bit too rough for areas with trees. The tug pilots
didn't want to tow us.
Not only that it was cold for Florida, getting to 70 degrees late in the day,
but it was below 60 when we got to the airfield at 9 AM. The air temperature was
forecasted to by 40 degrees at 5,000'
We had traveled an hour northwest to the airfield at Dunnellon:
With 500 acres of open space we hoped that we would have launchable conditions,
but after tug flights to test the winds, it was judged too strong for launching
, but especially for safe landings.
We'll go back there tomorrow with the forecast for lighter northwest winds.
