The Tennessee Tree Toppers 2012 Team Challenge will be held from
September 30th through October 6th.
Attention all hang glider pilots with cross country in your blood! If you are an
advanced pilot who enjoys helping up and coming pilots go cross country, you
need to come! If youre a hesitant cross country pilot hoping to gain the skills
and confidence to put it all together for some challenging cross country, you
need to come. If youre a hang 3 or 4 rated pilot with solid launch, landing and
thermal soaring skills, but havent yet cut the apron strings to your sites LZ,
you really need to come!
We are expecting another great year of flying and mentoring, with Dennis Pagen,
Mike Barber and many other gifted speakers helping everyone learn as much as
possible during this fun week of cross country flying. We will continue our
successful team and mentoring format. cross country savvy, advanced rated team
leaders will help their B and C pilot team members learn as much as possible in
the seminars and in the air!
We will continue the popular video launch and landing clinics along with daily
seminars and nightly debriefings. We had bad luck with the weather last year,
but pilots made up for it with daily educational seminars and video clinics. It
was an incredible week of hang gliding higher education! What a blast!
The Tree Toppers have a great venue with onsite camping, bathhouse, clubhouse
and pavilion for seminars and meals all right on our park like property at the
Henson Gap site. If you have hang 2 friends, they can launch from our famous
Tennessee Tree Toppers Radial Ramp. The Sequatchie Valley is a beautiful area
with most of the cross country tasks flown over the cross country friendly
valley. Well have breakfasts and dinners on site for a very reasonable fee so
everyone can participate in the seminars without worrying about finding
nourishment. Any Tennessee Tree Toppers member may attend the nightly seminars
and hang around for the free flying before and after the Team Challenge pilots
are launched.
This year we will start the meet Sunday, September 30th and wrap up with a great
Octoberfest and awards party Saturday, October 6th. Registration is now open. We
expect to fill up again this year! Check out
www.tennesseetreetoppers.org and follow the links for more information on
Team Challenge.
Looks like the Sequatchie Skies will be full of hang gliders and maybe a flock
of our paragliding brothers and sisters since the Southern Paragliding
Association may hold a Team Challenge like meet in conjunction with the
Tennessee Tree Toppers Team Challenge! It's gonna be a lot of fun!
