A friend phoned me from Lumby yesterday about a hang glider pilot
that crashed on landing approach yesterday. He believes his name is Michael
Wood, with a Novice (Hang 2) rating. Helicopter ride, life support, no
consciousness, probably a broken neck. I don't know what his current state is.
The crash was witnessed by another pilot in the air and at least one on the
ground. Sounds like he made it over the obstacles on the way to the LZ but with
some oscillations, then stalled a tip and slid into the ground. Wind was light
and steady.
