Once, gatherings to fly Saint John revolved around soaring the mountain, then
landing at the lake. Occasionally an XC flight was made. Those with a
double-surface glider were welcomed, and many lower hour pilots had their first
taste of Saint John air. Thank god those days are over! My Death Race Saint John
design captures the modern spirit of the event. It celebrates the boldest and
fastest of those who will attempt to win glory - and serves as warning to the
unworthy. This is not the Saint John event of the boring past - flesh, bone and
aluminum may be sacrificed to the gods of aerial combat, and all who attend may
pay a price.
