Landing rigid wing hang gliders
Landing a rigid wing. http://ozreport.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=28168&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=40
Rigid Advantages And Disadvantages The advantage with a rigid is you can kill the lift along the entire wing all at
once with a good hard flare. A lot of this has to do with the fact that there is
a ton of rake to the downtubes and the pilot is closer to the CG. So a given
amount of push out creates more rotation. Feel free to correct me on any
semantics Jim as I'm always keen to learn more. The disadvantage to a rigid is it does have a higher stall speed and once it
quits flying, it's 80-100 lbs of lead. So if you flare too early and drop in,
you're going to do damage. And it's hard to catch 100 lbs on your shoulders.
